Develop your school’s provision for more able learners, in the context of challenge for all.Whatever your starting point and needs, you will find the NACE Challenge Development Programme invaluable within your school improvement cycle.
What is the NACE Challenge Development Programme? The Challenge Development Programme is based on the NACE Challenge Framework, a well-established tool for whole-school review and school improvement. Its focus is on helping schools to achieve NACE’s vision – ensuring that all young people have the opportunity to develop their abilities without limits – through a robust focus on high-quality provision for more able learners, within a whole-school culture of challenge for all. Alongside the Challenge Framework, the Programme provides access to a suite of supporting resources, with additional bespoke support available (see below). Schools working with the Programme can go on to apply for the Challenge Award school accreditation – providing external recognition of high-quality challenge provision across the school. Who is this for?In short: the Challenge Development Programme is for all schools – suitable for use across all phases, contexts, locations and starting points. This includes those already demonstrating good or outstanding provision – and, importantly, it has also proven to be a highly effective framework to support schools undertaking a significant journey of improvement. The first step to joining the Programme is to become a NACE member school. NACE membership provides access to a wide range of resources and networking opportunities which complement the Programme. You can add on any of our NACE Challenge Development Programme packages when purchasing membership. Existing members can order here.

Glanhowy Primary School, Blaenau Gwent It has really made us think carefully about our provision for all students, with a particular focus on the high end. We have also had some great CPD as a whole school as a result of this focus.
Prince Henry’s High School, Worcestershire I think it would be great if more schools realised the benefits of investing in the [NACE] framework, courses and process because it is so much more than an accreditation for more able. For any new Head or Deputy Head I would recommend this process as it supports making positive change and is excellent CPD.
