Perfectionism and more able learnersWhat does the research tell us and how can schools respond? This webpage shares the results of a collaboration from 2019 to 2022 between NACE and York St John University on research and resources to help schools support more able learners with high levels of perfectionist characteristics. This collaboration builds on the university’s extensive experience in the field of perfectionism, led by its Motivation, Performance and Wellbeing (MPaW) research group. The project commenced with a systematic review of research relating to perfectionism and more able learners, published in the journal Educational Psychology Review, with key findings summarised in a series of blog posts (see below). NACE and York St John University have also partnered to develop and trial a "perfectionism literacy" lesson. A lesson impact report, example lesson plan, PPT and supporting resources are available to download for free below. The project was further developed through the NACE R&D Hub on perfectionism, which brought together schools across phases, locations and contexts to trial the perfectionism resources and develop them further - including for a wider range of age groups. School resources These resources have been developed by York St John University in partnership with NACE, to help schools support their learners in understanding perfectionism, identifying perfectionistic characteristics, and being able to seek additional support if needed. Before using these resources, please read the note on usage and watch the short video guide below.
